		<description>HUBER HEIGHTS&amp;mdash;The YMCA at the Heights &amp;nbsp;will be hosting a &amp;ldquo;Pool Safely Day&amp;rdquo; from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the Kroger Aquatic Center at the Heights.   &amp;nbsp;   &amp;ldquo;The focus of the event is parental responsibility in and around bodies water whether it be at a lifeguard staffed pool or a private residential pool,&amp;rdquo; said Josh Sullenberger, Executive Director of the YMCA. &amp;nbsp;&amp;ldquo;We want people to be safe in and around the water.&amp;rdquo;   &amp;nbsp;   Sullenberger said the pool serviced 90,000 people last summer, but &amp;ldquo;the majority of our community does not know how to swim.&amp;rdquo;</description>

		<title>Chihuahua puppy stolen from Humane Society kennels</title>

		<description>DAYTON     &amp;nbsp;&amp;ndash; The Humane Society of Greater Dayton needs your help! This Tuesday, a 3-month-old Chihuahua puppy was stolen from its kennel at the Humane Society of Greater Dayton.          &amp;nbsp;           The puppy, named Betty, is a tan and white, short-hair Chihuahua. She has been microchipped and her microchip number is 982000199049225. She was removed from the kennel just following surgery while she was still recovering and is need of her medication.           &amp;nbsp;           &amp;ldquo;This puppy was very young and weighs just 2.5 pounds. She could have easily been placed into a purse or under a shirt,&amp;rdquo; said Brian Weltge, president &amp; CEO of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton. &amp;ldquo;We need our community to be our eyes and ears and help us find Betty and get her back to the Humane Society where she can be safe and find the loving, forever home she deserves.&amp;rdquo;</description>

		<description>HUBER HEIGHTS&amp;mdash;At the May 13 Council meeting, Mayor Ron Fisher began the discussion concerning the two shooting deaths at the Heat Nightclub at 6115 Brandt Pike by stating Council and staff have done everything in their power in the last 18 months to try to get the facility closed down.   City Manager David Studebaker said that Saturday&apos;s double homicide at the site of the Heat Nightclub is a tragic reminder &amp;nbsp;that this problem with this business has a negative impact upon the city with the loss of life.&amp;nbsp;   &amp;nbsp;   &quot;It is our stong belief that this trouble spot needs to be closed down,&quot; he said.</description>

		<title>Rep. Henne announces House Passage of Nitro&apos;s Law</title>

		<description>&amp;nbsp;       COLUMBUS&amp;mdash;State Representative Michael Henne (R-Clayton) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 90, which establishes harsher penalties for owners, managers or employees of kennels and rescue shelters who commit animal cruelty. The bill is commonly referred to as &amp;ldquo;Nitro&amp;rsquo;s Law.&amp;rdquo;       &amp;nbsp;         House Bill 90 makes specific prohibitions against negligently and knowingly committing acts of cruelty against companion animals, including dogs and cats. Specifically, the bill grants a prosecutor discretion to charge and prosecute an owner, manager or employee of a kennel who engages in knowingly cruel treatment with either a first-degree misdemeanor or a fifth-degree felony. A fifth-degree felony charge for abuse could garner a prison sentence of up to 12 months per offense.         &amp;nbsp;         &amp;ldquo;Man is distinguishable from other animals by our ability to reason, and there is no reason we should allow the abuse of animals,&amp;rdquo; Rep. Henne said.</description>

		<title>Temporary Restraining Order against Heat Nightclub approved by judge</title>

		<description>HUBER HEIGHTS--In regards to the pending issue regarding the immediate closure of Heat Nightclub, and the filing by the city of Huber Heights for a court order against Heat Nightclub from operating in Huber Heights, that temporary restraining order has been approved by a Montgomery County Judge.       &amp;nbsp;       A temporary restraining order has been approved at this time and Heat Nightclub is to cease operations in Huber Heights.&amp;nbsp; An injunction is scheduled for May 28&amp;nbsp;at 9 a.m.&amp;nbsp; Heat Nightclub is not to operate until that hearing date, according to huber Heights Police Officer Brandon &amp;nbsp;Sucher.</description>
