Welcome to new Board Member Harris

Susan Gunnell - Superintendent, Huber Heights City Schools

At the March 9 Board of Education meeting, Mr. Bill Harris was selected to serve on the Board. Mr. Harris fills the vacancy created in February when Mrs. Krista Tipton resigned her seat on the Board of Education. Harris’ appointment to the school board seat lasts until Dec. 31, 2017. Because there are three years remaining on Mrs. Tipton’s school board term, an elected replacement for the final two years of the term will be selected in November.

Currently, Mr. Harris works as a real estate appraiser. He has also worked as a substitute teacher in our school district. Mr. Harris is married to Robin Harris. He and his wife are the parents of two Wayne High School graduates, Rachael and Nick. Both Rachael and Nick are currently attending college. Mr. Harris served as part of the team of citizens and school personnel that worked on the master planning committee for our new school buildings.

As a member of our Board of Education Mr. Harris will spend many hours preparing for and attending meetings. He will participate in school and community events while promoting public education and our schools. Mr. Harris, along with our other Board members, are the link between our schools and our community and spend many hours talking to, and helping parents and others understand the various policies and procedures of our school district. It is not an easy job.

I want to thank Mrs. Tipton for her service as a member of our Board of Education. I am looking forward to working with Mr. Harris and I appreciate his willingness to serve our school community. I know his appointment brings a different perspective to the Board of Education and an opportunity to hear new views and ideas. As always, if you have questions about our schools, please contact me at the Administrative Offices (237-6300) or through e-mail at [email protected]
